Alishba the Great

Follow along with Alishba the Great as her parents and brothers bestow on her gifts of Courage, Care, Determination and Dare, which she passes on to her baby sister.

Alishba was born and schooled in a land far away. One full of antelopes, elephants and passionfruit vines. Together they become kind, brave, bold and rare, just like the splendid capes they wear!

Written in the form of a traditional folktale, the story portrays the author's Pakistani/Indian heritage and her early life growing up in Uganda.

Faeza Samnakay is an Inclusive Educator with 20 years of experience working in schools, coordination services, and consultancy in the therapy space. She is a passionate advocate for disability inclusion as well as linguistically diverse organisations that support the empowerment of marginalised women and children.

Sam B is an Australian digital artist whose boldly lines, saturated art style seeks to invoke nostalgia for various traditional printmaking techniques of the past while utilising the wider palette of options a contemporary art program can provide.

Together, Faeza and Sam worked closely to highlight authenticity in the illustrations as a representation of Faeza's cultural background.
